Tech Workers Limit Children's Tech Use

Too much tech is affecting your child's development.

February 2, 2018

It's no surprise that technology and children are in the news again. The American Speech-Language and Hearing Association has completed a survey of technology workers, the very people who design and market technological products. It turns out that these people seem to be more aware than the general public of how the overuse of these devices with young children can negatively affect children's development and their relationships with parents. Children who use technology a lot miss out on spending time with loved ones, and engaging in rich language experiences and social interactions, which are the very experiences they need to learn good communication and social skills. I see many children in my practice who can't seem to stay away from their iPads, as soon as the therapy activities are done. Please take a look at the full article here: Tech Industry Workers Express Concern About Children and Technology Overuse.

I wrote some blogs on this issue a few years ago, along with the related issue of parents spending too much time on their devices! Please take a look. And good luck with reducing the technology use in your life! It will make a big difference for your child.
